Understanding widgets: the Camper Jarvis operating concept
Everything your modules can do appears in Camper Jarvis as a widget: a tile for a device or a measured value. That can be a switching channel on Switchy, a tank level from Fluidy, the battery values from Volty or a limit switch on the lift bed. Widgets are the heart of how you operate the system.
Dashboard and SmartKnob share the work
- In the dashboard on your phone, tablet or laptop you create widgets, give them names and say what is connected to which port. Here you also see statistics, details and histories.
- On the SmartKnob it is only about what you need in everyday use: current values, quick switching and clear notices.
Rule of thumb: set up in the dashboard, operate on the SmartKnob. Every new widget automatically also appears on the SmartKnob, in the menu of the matching area.
Editing a widget and saving it as a favourite
At the top right of every widget you find a menu with three dots, in the dashboard and on the SmartKnob. From there you open the widget's settings or put it on the dashboard's start page as a favourite.
Order
Widgets appear in the order in which you create them. They are sorted by areas such as Lighting or Water. Free reordering within an area is planned.
Scenes and schedules
With a scene you trigger several widget actions with one tap, with a schedule they run by themselves at fixed times. You find both in the Functions menu.
How to create a widget step by step is explained in Adding a function: creating a widget.
