Switching one light in the camper from two places

Updated 9 October 2026Lighty

You do not need two-way switching for this. Several push buttons can control the same light channel without being wired to each other. One at the sliding door, one at the bed, both switch the same light.

Why this makes such a difference in a camper

Traditionally, for two switching points you need two-way switching with an extra cable between the two points. In a vehicle this means: another cable through pillars, under trim panels, right across the conversion. Exactly the cables that cost time, weight and nerves.

With Camper Jarvis, each push button only sends a short pulse to the module it is connected to. What happens next is decided by the module itself. That is why the number of push buttons per light channel is not limited, and your push buttons also work when the SmartKnob is not there.

Push button or switch?

Both work. The rule of thumb:

  • Push buttons wherever you want to dim directly at the wall. Dimming works by holding the push button.
  • Switches are perfectly fine where it is only about on and off. You can keep existing switches, so you do not have to rebuild the whole installation. Switches go directly on the push button input of Lighty, not on Lighty Extension.

What you need for this

One push button input is already built into Lighty. With Lighty Extension you get up to five switching points for five individual channels, with push buttons. You can then connect as many push buttons per channel as you like.

In addition, every light can be controlled via the SmartKnob and via the dashboard on your phone or tablet. All ways are equal and stay in sync: whatever you change at the push button, you see immediately in the dashboard.
