Which LED strips work with Lighty?
Lighty controls single-colour and multi-colour LED strips via shared colour channels. This means the following work:
- Single-colour strips (for example warm white only)
- RGB strips (colour)
- RGBW and RGBWW strips (colour plus white, or warm and cool white)
With these strips, all LEDs share the same colour channel. So the whole strip lights up together in one colour and brightness, which is exactly what Lighty controls finely and colour-true.
Not supported
Addressable pixel strips such as WS2812, where every single LED gets its own colour (in other words chaser lights and rainbow effects per LED). Lighty is deliberately not designed for this. If you are planning effects like these, Lighty is not the right device.
Check the voltage
The strip must match the supply voltage of Lighty. If you have a 12V electrical system but want to use 24V strips, you simply put a DC-DC converter in front of Lighty. How to do this is explained in the article "Connecting Lighty".
