Installing the water pressure sensor and leak cable

Updated 9 October 2026Fluidy

Fluidy Pro has two dedicated connections for water: one for the water pressure sensor and one for one or more leak cables. Both sensors are available separately.

Water pressure sensor

  1. Install: fit the sensor into the water pipe with a standard T-piece from a plumbing supplier, after the fresh water pump, that is on the side where the water is under pressure. Only tighten the fittings as firmly as the pump manufacturer specifies.
  2. Connect: plug the sensor cable into the pressure connection on Fluidy Pro.

The sensor constantly measures the water pressure in the pipe. This lets you see on the SmartKnob whether the pump is running. And it notices when the pressure keeps dropping, for example because a fitting is leaking and the pump therefore keeps starting.

Leak cable

  1. Lay: the cable is 3m long and reacts to water. Lay it flat and in one continuous line where a leak would show up first: under the pump and boiler, along the kitchen plinths and around the fridge's drip tray. No loops, no knots.
  2. Connect: plug the connector at the end of the cable into the leak connection on Fluidy Pro. It does not matter which way round.
  3. Cover more area: you can connect several leak cables together to the leak connection. The alarm goes off as soon as there is water anywhere on any cable.

You can read more about the leak cable in Detecting water leaks: how the leak cable works.

Important in frosty weather: let the pressure sensor drain completely via the drain tap. If water freezes in the sensor, it will be permanently damaged.
